The history of St. John’s Wood is rich and well documented. The initial designation of St. John’s Wood as a conservation area in the London Borough of Camden was in March 1970. There was a subsequent extension in October 1977 that extended the western area and created the eastern area as it currently stands. The original St. John’s Wood Conservation Area within the City of Westminster was designated in 1968.
St. John’s Wood received designation as a Neighbourhood Area in 2012. A link to the authorisation documents can be found below.
